Effective Oct. 1, 2013, through Sept. 30, 2016, PHP will cover Medicaid beneficiaries in nine Arizona counties. The contract is capped, meaning PHP’s membership will have a limit.
The signing of a new contract seemed bleak earlier this year. In March, the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System denied a contract to PHP for the upcoming fiscal year but did not say way. Vanguard then requested that AHCCCS allow the health plan to receive a capped contract in two counties, Maricopa and Pima, where almost two-thirds of PHP’s members reside.
The recently signed deal includes Maricopa and Pima counties, as well as seven other surrounding counties.
