UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa., is transferring its billing department for physician services to Pittsburgh as it prepares to join the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's health system, according to a Erie Times-News report.
According to the report, 40 positions will be eliminated, but a UPMC Hamot spokesperson stated those affected employees will be offered other jobs at the hospital with no cut in pay.
The billing department for hospital services will remain at UPMC Hamot.
