UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill was the force behind the system’s strong operating income. UNC Hospitals recorded operating income of $116 million in the first eight months of the fiscal year, significantly more than the operating income of $58 million UNC Health Care had budgeted.
Additionally, a UNC Health Care spokeswoman told the Triangle Business Journal that the system’s implementation of an Epic EHR system contributed to its strong operating income.
