Twenty-six victims were transported to UMC, part of New Orleans-based LCMC Health System, following the attack, which occurred around 3:15 a.m. on New Orleans’ Bourbon Street when the suspect drove a pickup truck through a large crowd of people.
The funding will provide victims with mental and physical support amid their road to recovery, according to a Jan. 6 news release shared with Becker’s.
UMC is also collaborating with sister hospitals to provide aid to the victims in their recovery.
“The NOLA Strong Fund is a testament to the resilience and unity that defines New Orleans and the Spirit of Charity,” John Nickens, CEO of UMC, said in the release. “Together, we rise to support those impacted, ensuring that care, compassion, and hope are always available when it’s needed most.”
