UC Health will close Bridgeway Pointe, its assisted living facility on the Daniel Drake Campus in Cincinnati, and eliminate 49 positions, according to a July 30 filing with Ohio workforce officials.
The facility is expected to close permanently Oct. 31, with all affected employees’ positions terminated that day. None of the affected employees are represented by a union, and the filing said there are no bumping rights because the closure is facilitywide and permanent.
The layoffs include 24 state-tested nursing assistant positions and 20 licensed practical nurses, according to the filing. Five additional positions in staffing, the business office, development, activities and linen distribution will also be eliminated.
“UC Health has made the difficult but necessary decision to close Bridgeway Pointe, our assisted living facility on the Daniel Drake Campus, effective October 31, 2026,” the health system said in a statement to Becker’s.
UC Health said its priority is supporting residents, families and employees with individualized assistance during the transition.
“UC Health remains committed to expanding access to meet the needs of our community today and into the future,” the health system said.
