On Nov. 5, board members of the Ector County Hospital District unanimously agreed to waive hospital charges from Medical Center Health System in Odessa for patients directly affected by the shooting.
Russell Tippin, president and CEO of Medical Center Health, told the Odessa American that total charges will likely exceed $500,000. After insurance, the hospital expects to cover about half that amount.
“We felt like this was a right thing to do,” Mr Tippin told the publication. “We felt like it was something that we could do. We felt like everyone in our community would support this idea. So, we did it.”
