Prisma Health Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, Tenn., has filed a WARN notice with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development indicating 85 workers will be affected by a workforce change effective May 1.
The hospital notified the state March 10, according to a March 24 notice.
In a statement shared with Becker’s, Greenville, S.C.-based Prisma Health said the change reflects a transition in which the hospital is contracting its food and nutrition services and environmental services functions to external partners.
The system said it has partnered with Compass Healthcare organizations — Morrison Healthcare for food and nutrition services and Crothall Healthcare for environmental services — and that affected employees will have the opportunity to become Compass employees, pending pre-employment requirements.
“The vast majority of team members involved with this change have already completed the initial onboarding steps to become Compass Healthcare employees and will remain part of the Blount Memorial team,” Prisma Health said in the statement.
The notice said affected employees are not represented by a union and do not have bumping rights.
Prisma Health Blount Memorial Hospital has 304 acute care beds and more than 2,700 team members, according to its website.
