Sacred Heart Hospital gets $31M investment under St. Luke's deal

Bethlehem, Pa.-based St. Luke's University Health Network's recently acquired Sacred Heart Hospital in Allenton, Pa., is nearing completion of a $31 million renovation to revamp the once ailing hospital, according to Lehigh Valley Live.

The renovations, which came about a year after St. Luke's acquired Sacred Heart, include service, technological and building upgrades. One of the largest projects was expanding Sacred Heart's behavioral health unit. The $11 million project included two new floors and an additional 42 inpatient beds for a total of 109.

Another large project was a $10 million investment in converting Sacred Heart to Epic's EHR. Other changes included projects to support medically underserved populations in the community through expanded health and education centers.
