East Ohio Hometown Pharmacy, a full-service pharmacy in Martins Ferry for East Ohio Regional Hospital employees, patients and the community, will close permanently March 28, according to an outgoing voicemail message from the pharmacy.

The message states the pharmacy will no longer fill new prescriptions or refills. Patients needing refills have the option of leaving a voicemail to request their prescriptions be transferred to another pharmacy.

The pharmacy closing is the latest turn of events for the struggling hospital and comes as East Ohio Regional employees reported having not received their most recent paychecks. Employees were not paid as scheduled March 7 and remained unpaid as of March 18, according to The Intelligencer.

Also this month, East Ohio Regional notified employees that it would lay off “ancillary services” beginning March 14 to strengthen efforts to prioritize payroll disbursement.
