Earlier this month, CMS and the CDC announced 1,900 diagnosis codes and 3,651 hospital inpatient procedure codes would be added to the ICD-10 coding system for FY 2017. CMS has already posted the inpatient procedure codes.
“The AHA is grateful that the Centers for Disease Control and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have provided an early release of the thousands of ICD-10 diagnosis and procedure codes to be implemented Oct. 1 2016,” said Nelly Leon-Chisen, director of coding and classification at AHA.
