Ensemble Health Partners expanded its financial advocacy services nationwide to help health systems flag patients at risk of losing insurance coverage and guide eligible patients through state-specific Medicaid enrollment before the Jan. 1, 2027, federal deadline for new Medicaid eligibility rules.
Starting on that date, most adults covered through Medicaid expansion must renew eligibility every six months instead of annually and meet new work requirements. Ensemble said those changes raise the risk of coverage loss from missed notices, documentation problems and other administrative barriers.
The revenue cycle management company pulls coverage discovery data from multiple sources and uses predictive patient analytics to identify patients who may be uninsured or underinsured and the assistance they may qualify for. Outreach runs through EHR patient portal messaging, text, email, a digital application portal covering all 50 states, on-site financial assistance staff and voice agents.
Ensemble reaches patients before planned care, during registration or within 24 hours of an emergency department or urgent care visit. The company also provides deadline reminders and educational materials on the new work requirements.
“Too often, patients lose coverage because of process barriers rather than true ineligibility,” Ensemble Chief Strategy Officer Jim Gaffney said in the release. “Our goal is to identify risk earlier, simplify the enrollment journey and help health systems reduce avoidable self-pay while improving access to care.”
