Memphis, Tenn.-based Regional One Health said it will close its extended care hospital and lay off 103 employees Sept. 1, according to a July 7 WARN notice obtained by Becker’s.
The decision to close the 30-bed, long-term acute care hospital comes amid ongoing healthcare sector challenges. The closure aims to optimize resources and enhance patient care across the system, a spokesperson for Regional One Health said in a July 8 statement shared with Becker’s.
Regional One Extended Care Hospital opened in 2014. The system said it plans to offer support to the affected employees and help them find other open positions within the system.
“We are committed to a thoughtful and respectful transition process,” the spokesperson said. “All patients will complete their plan of care prior to the closure.”
Regional One Health comprises the Regional Medical Center and Regional One Health Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital, both in Memphis. It also features a cancer center, surgery center, multiple primary care locations, pharmacies, multispecialty care and outpatient rehabilitation, according to its website.
