RCM tip of the day: Keep an eye on operating room efficiency

As hospitals seek to improve financially, they should not forget the importance of reducing operating room delays and last-minute cancellations, said Mark Mele, vice president of sales at Casetabs, a cloud-based surgery coordination technology provider.

"Scheduling errors and miscommunication are key contributors to OR delays and cancellations," Mr. Mele told Becker's. "Providing complete case communication to those who need it and a holistic view of a case at each step of the way is essential to keeping OR cases on track.

"This requires breaking down the silos between surgeons, schedulers, anesthesiologists and medical reps. Deploying a cloud-based surgery coordination hub gives everyone involved in a case one central place where they can look at and share all case-related information," he said.
