Automating processes and implementing patient advocacy programs can help hospitals improve patient experience as well as revenue cycle performance, according to Nancy Lopez, manager of the lost revenue audit program at BillingParadise.

Ms. Lopez shared the following tip with Becker’s Hospital Review.

“As the healthcare industry transitions toward a more consumer-directed marketplace, it is essential for medical practices to become more patient-focused. Automating the pre-authorization process to simplify patient insurance eligibility verification and educating patients of their payment responsibilities is essential.

“Deploying a patient advocacy program for empowering your patients’ financial experience to improve loyalty, cost-to-collect and net collections can also be of tremendous help.”
