Providence St. Joseph Health will close distribution center; about 80 jobs affected

Renton, Wash.-based Providence St. Joseph Health said a distribution center that delivered medical supplies for the health system will close, The Olympian reported.

The closure of the Consolidated Service Center in Lacey, Wash., will affect about 80 employees. The date of the closure was not disclosed. Providence reportedly plans to use Medline, a similar medical supply manufacturer and distributor, by February.

"We regularly assess and adjust what services and partnerships we offer to best serve our communities," Providence spokesperson Chris Thomas told The Olympian. "After careful consideration, this decision fit with our overall long-term strategic goals."

Medline also has a distribution center in Lacey,  and most of the affected employees have found Medline jobs, The Olympian reported.
