ProMedica informed affected employees that it will close home health facilities in Clyde, Ohio, and Dundee, Mich., a spokesperson for the health system told Becker’s. Operations will be pared back at its Sylvania, Ohio, facility, which will only serve pediatric patients in “greatest need of home healthcare.”
The changes are expected to take effect by Nov. 1.
ProMedica said it is working with affected employees to identify other employment opportunities and “assess job offers with other home health agencies and elsewhere within our health system,” according to an Oct. 11 statement provided to Becker’s. Affected employees met with leaders about comparable positions within an hour of being notified about the closures, and additional sessions about potential employment opportunities have been scheduled, according to the health system.
The three home health facilities are not part of ProMedica’s proposed deal to sell its hospice and home-care business to Gentiva, a hospice company backed by Humana and private equity firm Clayton Dubilier & Rice. The transaction, which is valued at $710 million, “continues to progress,” ProMedica said.
