Toledo, Ohio-based ProMedica recorded an operating income of $249.4 million (8.1% operating margin) in 2025, up from $147.6 million (5% margin) in 2024, according to its Feb. 27 financial report.
The system reported total revenue of $3.1 billion for the 12 months ended Dec. 31, up from $2.9 billion in 2024. Net patient revenue was $2.8 billion, up from $2.7 billion.
Total operating expenses were $2.7 billion in 2025, up from $2.6 billion in 2024. Salaries, wages and benefits totaled $1.4 billion, up from $1.3 billion. Supply expenses were $298.1 million, up from $286 million.
ProMedica President and CEO Arturo Polizzi told Becker’s in December that when he stepped into the role in 2022, the system put together a turnaround plan, underwent corporate restructuring and divested from several noncore business lines.
In 2022, the system divested from 147 skilled nursing facilities that were responsible for a more than $200 million operating loss that year. In 2023, ProMedica sold its national hospice business and in 2024 it sold its insurance business to Cleveland-based Medical Mutual of Ohio. More recently, ProMedica spun off 47 assisted living facilities into a separate organization, relieving the system of more than $350 million in lease obligations.
Mr. Polizzi said those four moves “are really what put us in a good position to get lean and mean and profitable.”
ProMedica reported a net income of $260.8 million in 2025, up from $110.3 million in 2024.
