Philanthropist Chuck Feeney gives $100M to UCSF for health initiatives

Philanthropist Charles F.”Chuck” Feeney has given $100 million to University of California, San Francisco to support new hospitals that opened earlier this month at UCSF’s Mission Bay campus, as well as faculty and students, according to a San Francisco Gate report.

Part of the $100 million gift will also go toward research programs focused on the neurosciences and aging, according to the report.

Mr. Feeney said in a statement used by San Francisco Gate, “gratification from knowing that my investments in medical research, education and the delivery of healthcare at UCSF will provide lifelong benefits to millions of people not only in the Bay Area but also around the world.”

Including the $100 million donation, Mr. Feeney has given a total of $394 million to UCSF.
