Penn State Health Medical Group names CFO

Peter Ostasewski, RN, has been appointed CFO for Penn State Health Medical Group in State College, Pa., effective Dec. 19.

Mr. Ostasewski will be responsible for the group’s financial performance, including accounting and reporting, operational and capital budgets, financial forecasts, strategy and benchmarking.

Most recently, he was vice president of finance and CFO for MedStar Medical Group, the integrated provider organization for Washington, D.C.-based MedStar Health, a nonprofit system that includes 10 hospitals. Before that, he was system vice president of operations finance for UPMC Central Pennsylvania Region following the affiliation between UPMC and Harrisburg-based PinnacleHealth System, where he previously served as corporate vice president of operations finance.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Ostasewski served as CFO with Tenet Physician Resources for Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare and director for operational finances and associate CFO with Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children and Nemours/duPont Pediatrics in Wilmington, Del. 

He also holds a master’s in business administration from Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore, has experience as CEO for a managed care-related organization and worked as a nurse for various healthcare organizations and hospitals. 

“Pete brings impressive credentials and experience to Penn State Health, having held senior leadership roles with numerous healthcare organizations and medical centers over nearly three decades,” Paula Tinch, Penn State Health’s executive vice president of finance and CFO, said in a Dec. 8 news release. “A decorated U.S. Army veteran and former critical care nurse, he has consistently demonstrated excellence in meeting the challenges of the ever-changing health care and financial environments.”
