Supporters of the ballot question, which could appear on the November ballot, say it would help solve the disparity of the state’s pricing system, which they argue provides excessive payments to a select few academic medical centers while restricting wages and increasing costs among community hospitals.
The Committee to Protect Massachusetts Hospital Care, which opposes the question, has filed papers with the Office of Campaign and Political Finance to oppose the question, according to the report.
Lynn Nicholas, president and CEO of the Massachusetts Hospital Association, is listed as the committee’s chairman.
