New York City-based NYU Langone Health has received a $15 million gift from the Blavatnik Family Foundation to advance biomedical research.

The donation will support research on gene regulation, antibiotic resistance and cellular mechanisms that influence cancer and aging.

The research is led by Evgeny Nudler, PhD, the Julie Wilson Anderson Professor in the department of biochemistry and molecular pharmacology at NYU Langone and an investigator with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

“This kind of support allows us to attract and retain top talent — the most precious resource in our lab — and gives us the investigative freedom to drive discoveries that could transform people’s lives,” Dr. Nudler said in a May 15 news release.

The Blavatnik Family Foundation is a frequent contributor to life-sciences initiatives, also previously supporting research efforts at New York City-based Mount Sinai and Boston-based Harvard Medical School.
