Chicago-based Northwestern Medicine recorded an operating income of $132.7 million (4.5% operating margin) in the second quarter of 2026, down from $149.6 million (5.7% margin) during the same period last year, according to its April 15 financial report.
Northwestern Medicine reported total operating revenue of $3 billion for the three months ended Feb. 28, up from $2.6 billion during the same period last year. Patient service revenue was $2.7 billion, up from $2.4 billion. Rental and other revenue totaled $245.2 million, up from $195.7 million.
Total operating expenses were $2.8 billion, up from $2.5 billion during the same quarter last year. Salaries and benefits totaled $1.4 billion, up from $1.2 billion. Supply expenses totaled $733.5 million, up from $620.3 million. Purchased services expenses were $252.3 million, up from $236.7 million.
Northwestern Medicine reported a net income of $580.6 million in the second quarter of 2026, up from $220.1 million during the same period last year.
