Northwell Health receives $40M donation

Northwell Health in New Hyde Park, N.Y., received a $40 million gift from Sandra Atlas Bass to support North Shore University's Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y.

Ms. Bass' donations to Northwell now total $93 million. Her previous donations to the health system established cardiology centers at North Shore Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center, both in New Hyde Park, and opened the Sandra Atlas Bass Center for Liver Diseases in Manhasset.

"Ms. Bass has long been a pioneer of cardiac innovation in the health system and has continuously demonstrated her commitment to enhancing the patient experience," Barry Kaplan, MD, co-director of the Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital, said in the press release. "Her support of the Heart Hospital will help us propel the center into a nationwide leader."
