North Carolina legislators have worked to close a $205 million shortfall in this year’s Medicaid budget, and last week they learned the deficit is actually $75 million larger than expected.

Michael Watson, chief deputy secretary of North Carolina’s DHHS, will take Dr. Gray’s role, and Mr. Watson’s salary will stay at $160,000.
