Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems has no immediate plans to sell hospitals following an active $1 billion hospital divestiture plan over the last few years.
CHS shared plans in April to sell Cedar Park (Texas) Medical Center for $460 million to St. Louis-based Ascension. CHS also sold three hospitals, two in Florida and one in North Carolina for around $540 million in the first quarter of 2025.
Since 2020, CHS has completed or shared plans for the sale of 35 hospitals.
“We have not considered in our guidance any additional divestitures beyond those that have already been announced,” Tim Hingtgen, CEO of CHS, said in the health system’s April 24 first-quarter earnings call.
CHS reported $284 million in operating income at a 9% margin in the first quarter of 2025. Net operating revenue was $3.2 billion and operating expenses were $2.9 billion. The health system saw a $13 million net loss in the first quarter of 2025, up from a $41 million loss during the same period in 2024.
