“The approvals provide certainty to our county as we move forward on the path to fiscal health,” said Ed Day, a Rockland County executive. He said Summit Park is losing about $800,000 a month, and the facility played a significant role in the county’s deficit.
In early October, Summit Park announced it would have to close after a private buyer backed out of a $32 million deal to take it over.
Although no patients remain in Summit Park’s hospital portion of the facility, the staff has not yet been laid off, according to the report.
