SunLink’s net revenues for the first quarter were $43 million, an increase of 5.4 percent from last year.

CEO Robert Thornton said the health system’s equivalent admissions actually increased on a year-over-year basis for the first time in five quarters. Despite the net loss, Mr. Thornton said the health system is positioning itself for growth opportunities and is continuing to pay down its debt, according to the release.

In September, SunLink announced it ended its 2011 fiscal year with a net loss of $10.7 million.
