Health Spending Grows 3.9% Over 12 Months

National health spending grew 3.9 percent from June 2011 to June 2012, according a report by the Altarum Institute’s Center for Sustainable Health Spending.

The growth rate is down slightly from the 4.2 percent growth experienced between May 2011 and May 2012.

Health spending as a share of GDP was 18.1 percent in June 2012, down from the all-time high of 18.3% in June 2011.
