Moody’s assigns ‘Aa3’ rating to Wellspan Health, upgrades Summit Health to ‘Aa3’

Moody’s Investors Service assigned an “Aa3” rating to York, Pa.-based WellSpan Health and upgraded Chambersburg, Pa.-based Summit Health’s rating from “A2” to “Aa3” after Summit formally became part of WellSpan.

The ratings acknowledge the enhanced scale of WellSpan Health after the acquisition of Summit Health, which will provide further geographic diversification and translate to a leading market position in several counties.

The rating outlook remains negative for both organizations.
