Moody's affirms 'Aa2' on University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics

Moody's Investors Service affirmed its "Aa2" rating on Iowa City-based University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, affecting $295 million of debt.

The affirmation is a result of several factors, including the health system's wide-reaching market, increasing patient volumes and affiliation with the University of Iowa. Moody's also acknowledged UIHC's short-term declines in liquidity metrics and operating margins.

The outlook is stable, reflecting Moody's expectation that UIHC will improve operations and grow liquidity as it continues to implements expense control initiatives.
