Hospital officials decided to make the transition due to dwindling inpatient volumes. Moncrief only had 221 inpatients last year, according to the report.
With the change, the hospital has restructured its personnel. Some military physicians will move to work at hospitals on other bases. Those that aren’t transferring to another hospital will be allowed to retire early or separate early with a severance package.
