Long Beach, Calif.-based Molina Healthcare will lay off 120 employees with the closure of Midwest Medical Center in Dearborn, Mich., according to the Detroit Free Press.
A Molina Healthcare representative would not specify the reason for the clinic's closure on Monday, according to the Detroit Free Press. However, the announcement comes as the company aims to cut 1,400 jobs to shore up finances. Molina recorded a net loss of $230 million in the second quarter of fiscal year 2017, compared to net income of $33 million in the same period last year.
"We regret the impact this will have on affected employees and we will be providing outplacement assistance and severance to ease the transition," Leigh Woodward, a Molina spokesperson told the Detroit Free Press. "We are working with network providers to ensure that our patients continue to receive the care they need and deserve through our trusted partners."
Midwest Medical Center is run by Molina Healthcare's subsidiary Molina Medical Management and offers urgent care, primary care and physical therapy, among other services.
