Federal regulators found Sparrow Carson Hospital was not compliant with infection control standards and sent the hospital a notice of termination Feb. 6. CMS told Sparrow Carson Hospital the deficiencies “are significant and limit your hospital’s capacity to render adequate care and ensure the health and safety of your patients,” according to a letter obtained by the Lansing State Journal.
Sparrow Carson Hospital must submit a corrective action plan to CMS by Feb. 16.
“In response to this notification, Sparrow Carson leaders will submit a plan to fully address the opportunities for improvement,” the hospital said in a statement cited by Lansing State Journal. “Safety and quality are always taken seriously, and we are confident that this matter will be resolved with CMS in a timely and complete manner.”
