Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Magellan Health, a healthcare management company, is seeking up to $2.1 million in state tax credits from the Rhode Island Commerce Corp. to expand operations at its Newport, R.I., location, according to Providence Journal.
The company said it would use the Qualified Jobs Incentive Tax Credit, which would be paid over 10 years, to more than double its Newport workforce of about 86 employees. While Magellan plans to hire 100 employees over the next three years, only 75 positions would be eligible for tax credits.
Magellan helps managed-care organizations, health plans, employers and governmental agencies manage healthcare matters, including pharmacy benefits, drug research, finance and data analytics.
