CHIP funding is set to expire in 2015, and the CHIP Extension Act of 2014 would extend the funding for four more years. The Act would also do the following:
-
Automatically enroll newborns in CHIP
-
Help improve access to immunizations and other preventive services currently not covered by the program
-
Create better transitions between CHIP, Medicaid and qualified health plans
-
Extend the Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program, which is also set to expire in 2015
-
Help facilitate improved tracking of cost-sharing requirements
-
Help build on pediatric quality measures that already exist in CHIP
