The hospital system is forecasting $700,000 profit in 2023 and subsequent positive years with its full-year projection for 2027 totaling $25 million in net income.

Capital expenditure, which was almost $110 million in 2022, is predicted to be much smaller in the years 2023 to 2027, averaging approximately $23 million annually. Long-term debt is also projected to decline steadily between now and 2027, falling from a current $162.5 million to $108.5 million in 2027, the hospital said.

Kootenai, which has been the subject of takeover speculation and which is also considering a move to nonprofit status, has its main campus in Coeur d’Alene with 330 beds. The system also has more than 25 clinic specialties in 30 different locations.
