Kentucky hospital retains Medicare contract

CMS threatened to revoke Bardstown, Ky.-based Flaget Memorial Hospital's Medicare contract Jan. 7. However, a recertification survey Jan. 5 found the hospital was in compliance with federal standards.

In the termination notice, CMS cited issues with the hospital's governing body, patient rights, nursing services, and quality assessment and performance improvement program. No further details were released.

"Maintaining a safe, secure and compassionate environment for patients, family and visitors is our top priority at Flaget Memorial Hospital. We self-reported this incident, implemented a plan of correction and the issue has been resolved. Based on completion of a resurvey (Jan. 5), by CMS the hospital is now back into compliance with all conditions of participation and the provider agreement was never terminated," the hospital said in a statement to Becker's Hospital Review.

Editor's Note: This article was updated at 2:29 p.m. January 8, 2018 to reflect that the hospital never lost its Medicare contract.
