The report also found that Kansas hospitals generate more than $4.2 billion in direct labor income to the Kansas economy each year, and for every dollar of income generated in the hospital sector, another $0.48 was created elsewhere.
Overall, the entire Kansas healthcare industry employs 212,252 people, or 11.4 percent of all job holders in the state. The national average of people working in healthcare is 9.1 percent.
