Kaiser, Tenet hospitals in Calif. share details on care provided to state exchange customers: 6 findings

From January 2014 through June 2015, more than 69,000 visits were made to emergency rooms and nearly 11,000 cancer treatments were provided to people with insurance plans on Covered California, the state's health insurance exchange, according to Covered California data published by the Orange County Register.

Covered California recently released data provided by 111 hospitals in California on the care patients have received with their plans. The data, which did not include costs to patients or insurers, covers the time period of January 2014 through June 2015.

Here are five other findings from the data, as reported by the Orange County Register.

1. At Kaiser Permanente Anaheim (Calif.) Medical Center, 15,076 Covered California patients received inpatient or outpatient care. There were 621 emergency visits by Covered California patients.

2. At Fountain Valley (Calif.) Regional Hospital, which is owned by Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare, 6,968 Covered California patients received inpatient or outpatient care. There were 696 emergency visits by Covered California patients.

3. At Tenet's Los Alamitos (Calif.) Medical Center, 4,273 Covered California patients received inpatient or outpatient care. There were 429 emergency visits by Covered California patients.

4. At Tenet's Placentia (Calif.)-Linda Hospital, 4,168 Covered California patients received inpatient or outpatient care. There were 668 emergency visits by Covered California patients.

5. At Kaiser Permanente Irvine (Calif.) Medical Center, 12,558 Covered California patients received inpatient or outpatient care. There were 567 emergency visits by Covered California patients.
