Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente has opened the first two of three planned medical offices in Reno and Sparks, Nev.
The opening is part of Kaiser’s joint venture with Reno-based Renown Health, finalized in February, to launch a new outpatient care delivery system and co-own a health plan in the northern part of the state.
In a July 1 health system news release, Kaiser said members may now obtain primary care and other medical services at the Kaiser Permanente Del Monte Medical Offices in Reno and the Kaiser Permanente Ion Medical Offices in Sparks. Leaders expect a third Kaiser Permanente medical facility, in central Reno, to open in late 2026. The locations offer primary care and laboratory services, with pharmacy and imaging slated to open in 2027.
The openings come as Hometown Health, the health plan previously owned by Renown and now jointly owned by the two systems, becomes Kaiser Permanente. Kaiser will begin offering health plan coverage options in northern Nevada during fall 2026 open enrollment for the 2027 plan year, according to the release. Members will also continue to have access to Renown’s hospital and specialty services.
