The audit covered 1,746 monthly capitation payments totaling $1.3 million. A 100-sample review of claims revealed that Indiana made 95 unallowable payments totaling $79,403 within the period. On the basis of the sample, OIG said Indiana owed the federal government $862,097.
OIG requested that Indiana return the federal funds and recover unallowable payments from MCOs.
