Indiana hospital closure will result in 269 layoffs

Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville, Ind., will close by May 1 and lay off its 269 employees.

Four things to know:

1. Galichia Hospital Group, the company that manages Kentuckiana Medical Center, sent a letter to hospital employees last month informing them they would be laid off when the facility closes.

2. GHG provided an update on the closure plan in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice filed March 4.

3. GHG said the exact date the hospital will close is unknown, but it will shut down no later than May 1. According to the WARN notice, 269 employees will be laid off when the hospital closes.

4. Kentuckiana Medical Center has been in operation since 2009 and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2013, according to the News and Tribune.
