Newly Signed Bill to Help Keep California’s Doctors Medical Center Open

A new bill signed by California Gov. Jerry Brown will make it easier for Doctors Medical Center in San Pablo, Calif., to borrow money and avoid bankruptcy, according to a Contra Costa Times report.

The new measure would provide financial guarantees to lenders, which will help DMC pay off its $20 million debt, according to the report.

Sen. Loni Hancock (D-Oakland) sponsored the bill and said the “existence of Doctors Medical Center might have been in jeopardy” if the bill was not passed.
