AHIMA, MGMA: HIPAA’s “Accounting of Disclosures” Burdensome

More than 90 percent of physician group practices said the proposed HIPAA “accounting of disclosures” rule would be very or extremely burdensome to their practice, according to a recent MGMA survey.

Likewise the American Health Information Management Association also commented on the accounting of disclosures rule in a letter to HHS, saying the rule could be overbearing on administrative costs considering not many patients request such disclosures.
