HCA sees admissions increase and revenue grow in Q2

Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Holdings has released its preliminary financial and operating results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2015, and the for-profit-hospital operator expects its revenues to be approximately $9.9 billion, up from $9.2 billion in the same period a year ago.

HCA’s same-facility admissions were up 4.1 percent in the second quarter and same-facility-equivalent admissions increased 4.9 percent compared to the same period of 2014. The for-profit hospital operator’s emergency room visits also increased 7.4 percent from the comparable period of last year.

HCA anticipates its income before taxes will be about $984 million for the second quarter of 2015, up from $904 million in the same period a year ago.

The for-profit hospital operator now expects its adjusted EBITDA to be near the high end of its previously issued guidance range of $7.55 to $7.85 billion for the year ending Dec. 31.
