For-profit hospital stock report: Week of Sept. 26-30

Four of the five major for-profit hospital operators saw their stock prices rise last week.

Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems saw the largest increase in share price, with shares rising 11.5 percent.

King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services saw its share price rise 0.2 percent, the least of any of the major for-profit hospital operators.

Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Holdings saw its share price fall last week.

Here is how the five operators’ stock prices stacked up.

  • Community Health Systems (Franklin, Tenn.): $11.54 per share (up 11.5 percent)
  • HCA Holdings (Nashville, Tenn.): $75.63 per share (down 0.6 percent)
  • LifePoint Health (Brentwood, Tenn.): $59.23 per share (up 1 percent)
  • Tenet Healthcare (Dallas): $22.72 per share (up 3.4 percent)
  • Universal Health Services (King of Prussia, Pa.): $123.22 per share (up 0.2 percent)
