For-profit hospital stock report: Week of Feb. 27-March 3

Three of the five major for-profit hospital operators saw their stock prices rise last week.

Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems saw the largest increase in share price, with shares rising 4.8 percent.

Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health saw its share price rise 0.7 percent, the least of any of the major for-profit hospital operators.

Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare and King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services saw their share prices fall last week.

Here is how the five operators stacked up.

  • Community Health Systems (Franklin, Tenn.): $9.77 per share (up 4.8 percent)
  • HCA Holdings (Nashville, Tenn.): $88.34 per share (up 1.5 percent)
  • LifePoint Health (Brentwood, Tenn.): $64.52 per share (up 0.7 percent)
  • Tenet Healthcare (Dallas): $20.56 per share (down 6.5 percent)
  • Universal Health Services (King of Prussia, Pa.): $124.78 per share (down 1 percent)
