For-profit hospital stock report: Week of April 10-14

Three of the five major for-profit hospital operators saw their stock prices rise last week.

Among the major for-profit hospital operators, Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare saw the largest increase in share price, with shares rising 3.4 percent.

Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health saw its share price rise 0.7 percent, the least of any of the major for-profit hospital operators.

Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Holdings and King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services saw their share prices fall last week.

Here is how the five operators stacked up.                                                     

  • Community Health Systems (Franklin, Tenn.): $9.01 per share (up 1.7 percent)
  • HCA Holdings (Nashville, Tenn.): $87.72 per share (down 0.2 percent)
  • LifePoint Health (Brentwood, Tenn.): $63.95 per share (up 0.7 percent)
  • Tenet Healthcare (Dallas): $17.58 per share (up 3.4 percent)
  • Universal Health Services (King of Prussia, Pa.): $121.81 per share (down 1.2 percent)
