Fitch affirms 'A-' rating on University of Maryland Medical System

Fitch Ratings affirmed its "A-" rating on Baltimore-based University of Maryland Medical System's outstanding revenue bonds.

Concurrently, Fitch assigned its "A-" issuer default rating to UMMS.

The affirmation and assignment are a result of several factors, including the health system's leading market position, solid operating performance, improving liquidity metrics and expanding regional presence with affiliations. Fitch also acknowledged UMMS' sizable capital plan and constrained payer mix.

The outlook is stable.
