The Everett (Wash.) Clinic has announced it is taking a bold step in transparency by posting prices for all of its most frequently used services online, starting Nov. 1.
In May, Everett Clinic began listing prices for some of the more commonly used imaging services online. However, the prices for the clinic’s sleep center, hearing aid center and vision centers will also be posted in November, which will complete the push for transparency across all of the clinic's departments.
Taking this step will make Everett Clinic one of the first in the nation to list its prices online and at its clinics for patients.
Transparency in healthcare pricing is becoming ever more important as higher deductibles and larger co-payments require patients to pay more out-of-pocket, according to Al Fisk, MD, CMO at Everett Clinic.
"Listing prices helps patients make informed decisions and helps us determine whether the Clinic is providing effective and appropriate care at reasonable prices," said Dr. Fisk
The prices listed will reflect self-pay or uninsured rates, and patients can call the clinic directly for more information on the costs of various services not listed online.
